Beef Mince Pie


  • 1 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/3 cup zamanita margarine
  • 4 tbsp. cold water
  • For Filling
  • 1 cup chopped potato
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 3 tbsp. Zamanita margarine
  • 1 1/2 cup chopped carrots
  • 2 cups minced beef


  1. Mix flour and salt into a large mixing bowl. Stir 1 1/4 cups flour and 1/4 tsp salt together in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Add in zamanita margarine
  3. Mix in cold water into the flour mixture
  4. Form the dough into a ball and rest for 30mins
  5. Cut into equal pieces and roll out
  6. In a large skillet over medium heat, add 2 cups mince meat and 1/2 cup chopped onions. Season salt. Cook over medium heat, stirring until the minced beef is evenly browned.
  7. Chop 1 potato into small pieces and add it to the skillet. Pour in 1 1/2 cup carrots
  8. Evenly divide your filling for each individual pie and scoop it onto the dough circle.
  9. Carefully fold the dough over to cover the filling and use your fingers or a fork to press the edges together.
  10. Use a fork to cut a few slits into the top of your pies
  11. Brush the top of your pockets with egg or melted margarine
  12. Bake your pies on a lightly oiled or non-stick baking sheet in the oven for about 45 minutes to 1 hour or until the crust is golden brown and flakey.
